Technology Aspects:

  • What is a pop-up book?
  • What makes a good pop-up book?

Your story:


Write a story based on a character travelling in a specific country.
Areas of focus:

  • traditional costume 
  • architecture
  • food
  • dance and festivals celebrated in that country

The story will be presented as a pop up book for PYP students.
Students are encouraged to draw the characters and pictures to be included in their book.
Youtube will be a source for tutorials on paper engineering techniques.

Assessment criteria:

Investigation - use of relevant resources. (Print, web)
Evaluation of sources.

 

Chinese Pop-up Realism

In a series of pop up books under the title ‘We Are Tiger Dragon People’, American artist and photographer Colette Fu reveals traditions and the daily life of people in China. Re inscribing on the genre of children’s pop up books with the realism of documentary and the casualness of a snap-shot, the images composing the pop up’s expose a notion of reality with all its beauty and ugliness.
